The Perfect Formula for a Business

03/10/2025

Even though business planning is deemed a requisite to starting a business, Olive Sta. Juana of Papaping’s Baked Boneless Bangus is proof that one can achieve success by following a mere gut feeling.

Papaping’s Baked Boneless Bangus

Olive’s baked boneless bangus started as a meal she regularly cooked for her family With her generosity, she shared it with her friends and relatives, unknowingly getting closer to the day she officially opened a business with every piece shared.

The said friends and family members started ordering from Olive on their own even though Papaping’s did not yet exist. Orders went like floods and she received a suggestion to open an outlet since the stream of orders had gone far from casual requests and reached even outside her family circle. In 2017, Papaping’s Baked Boneless Bangus exists to bring the best-cooked bangus.

Despite the business name, Papaping’s product line extends to bottled sweet and spicy bagoong and chili garlic sauce. Along with their special bangus, they are planning to start exporting to make their products available to everyone, not only locally, but globally.

As Olivia stated, “Gusto namin ay nationwide matikman po ‘yung sarap ng Papaping’s. Ganun din po sa mga kababayan natin sa abroad, matikman din naman nila ‘yung iba naming products.”

One of the things that retains the business operation and exposure is their active participation in bazaars and events hosted by renowned organizations like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture (DOA), and Iskaparate, a growing multi-vendor e-commerce platform that connects like businesses to these organizations and events.

Papaping’s has also reached franchising and continues to serve not only their customers but also help resellers nationwide.

The Owner’s inspiration

Indeed, only the strong-willed can create and maintain a business. Olivia sees trials and challenges as their foundation and main inspiration to continue working hard, further developing their products, and achieving success. This determination is what keeps them thriving and a fuel that must never run out.

Advice to New and Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Speaking from experience, Olivia states, “Kung meron po kayong sariling produikto na ginagawa o araw-araw niluluto, subukan niyong idevelop ito at ibenta. Kasi walang nakakaalam baka dahil sa produktong ‘yun, doon po magbabago ‘yung buhay niyo.”

She mentioned experiencing the same thing with Papaping’s. They also never expected they would build a business and be known nationwide simply because they took a leap of courage. The beginning of Papaping’s happened because someone suggested they start a business — they just went with it.

Olivia emphasized making sure to seek guidance from the Lord, saying that only He knows where and how far to bring your business and products. She also described business ownership as a vocation as it is not easy, but if you believe in your product's purpose and potential to help others by providing jobs, try your best to make it happen.

How Iskaparate Helps Papaping’s

With Iskaparate’s reliable partnerships with various credible organizations and businesses, Papaping’s and other brands are able to get the opportunity to join bazaars and events nationwide. Such events help businesses like Olivia’s gain potential consumers and interact with other sellers, allowing them to promote their products and exposing themselves to opportunities for partnerships that may bloom.

Why Should You Join Iskaparate?

Olivia advised fellow business owners to join Iskaparate to give them a chance to introduce their products and gain connections with those who can help them grow their businesses even more.
